East Surrey Gravity Research

Home

East Surrey Gravity Research (ESGR) is a compact institution that focuses on theoretical research in General Relativity (GR), and in particular its application in Astrophysical contexts. While the current trends in GR are towards research involving large-scale Global collaborations (e.g. the detection of Gravitational Waves), here at ESGR while we maintain some links to those collaborations, at the same time we focus on more specific topics of interest.

About

ESGR is located in the Borough of Reigate and Banstead in Surrey, UK. Founded by Prakash Sarnobat following his initial research in General Relativity, the goals of the institution are to vigorously pursue high-quality research in GR, Astrophysics, and other related areas. In addition to research, we also regularly participate in high-profile networking events e.g. BritGrav, SIGrav, ICRANet, ICGRG.

Projects

The core focus of ESGR is in investigating the structure and evolution of Compact Objects. A key feature which recurs throughout our work is both perturbative (and sometimes non-perturbative) behavior of Stars and Black holes, occaisionally involving the emission of Gravitational Waves.

Multi-layer compact objects - it is well known that a single-layer compact object collapses to a Black Hole, but what about an object consisting of more than one layer? https://www.actaphys.uj.edu.pl/fulltext?series=Sup&vol=16&aid=6-A14 (Static initial conditions before the collpase starts)
